A consummate educator and academic researcher, Dr. Nair is a professor at the Department of English at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth in Cochin. With over three decades of experience in teaching and research, she was a stalwart of the department of English at St Teresa's College in Cochin. Since she began her tenure in 1990, her vivacity, love for learning, and absolute dedication to the vocation of higher education have made her a beloved mentor to the generations of students who have graduated from the English programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

Dr. Nair was also appointed as the Director of the Gunn Centre in India, after she undertook a training program at the State Kansas University, USA. She played a lead role in facilitating the autonomous status of St. Teresa’s College. She is also a member of the Governing Council of St. Teresa’s College, Member Board of Studies, Sree Sankaracharya University, Kalady. She is the Resource Person for the Staff Academic Training Colleges (UGC) of Bharatheeyar University and Calicut University.

Saahas Prerna Awards | WISCOMP
WISCOMP(Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) is an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility, New Delhi that focuses on women’s agency in public and policy spaces and works to facilitate their informed articulation and leadership across South Asia. WISCOMP’s work foregrounds the interface of gender with issues of representation, democracy, foreign policy, and peacebuilding.

Dr. Nair was honored with this award for consistently providing psycho-social support for the emotional well-being of students and countering Gender-Based Violence and Substance Abuse. The award honored her health and financial outreach for the differently Abled and LGBTQI communities. It also commended her dissemination of best practices on gender justice to partner institutes, networks, and organizations, especially in the media and not-for-profit sectors.
